Climate Focus is a leading international advisory company specializing in supporting clients with shaping and navigating through international and do- mestic climate policies, accessing climate finance, climate law and engaging with new climate mechanisms and cooperative approaches. Climate Focus has long-standing experience in West Africa and has worked closely together with various West African countries to implement and deliver high-quality out- puts regarding climate finance, international climate negotiations, market mechanisms and relevant domestic capacity building. As the current tech- nical partner and member of the steering committee of the West African Alli- ance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance, Climate Focus has supported the Alliance and member countries with climate policy and capacity develop- ment related to carbon markets and climate finance. Finally, Climate Focus is an active participant and observer in the UNFCCC negotiations and has led numerous projects to support the African Group of Negotiators, particu- larly regarding carbon markets and implementing mitigation activities for sus- tainable low emission development.

ENDA’s aim is to accompany the transformation process of African economies at the political, social, economic and technical level, through: i) the promotion of access to sustainable energy services for poor and vulnerable people, ii) strengthening the resilience of community and ecosystems through the im- plementation of environmental multilateral agreements (climate change, bio- diversity, desertification, iii) Promotion of inclusive consultations for equity, climate justice, and civil rights. Well established in Africa, in particular in Western Africa, Enda Energie has developed a longstanding partnership with key African stakeholders at local, regional and national level, covering both governments and non-states actors.

“Afrique – Energie – Environnement” (AEE) is specialised in Energy, Environ-

ment and Technology Transfer studies. In the field of energy, the company conducts energy audits that lead to recommendations to improve energy ef- ficiency. In the field of environment AEE conducts assessments and helps companies to comply with the Senegalese regulations and accompanies them for upgrading in this area. AEE also carries out Technology Needs As- sessments projects in line with the UNFCCC guidelines and works on the development and implementation of NAMAs (Nationally Appropriate Mitiga- tion Actions) in the energy sector in Senegal. AEE was a technical partner during the first phase of the West African Alliance.

Aera Group is a privately owned company specialised in carbon finance ad- visory and carbon credits valuation and monetisation in Africa. Formerly known as Ecosur Afrique, Aera Group is a market leader on the continent with the largest number of registered carbon activities across Africa. Based in Paris, our team has been active in carbon markets since their inception and now operates in 19 African countries, focusing on francophone countries, in particular in West Africa. Our portfolio comprises 2 million tons of CO2e mitigation potential per year among which 50 carbon projects registered, 20 projects operating and 30+ successful issuances of carbon credits. Aera Group advises the largest African corporates as well as local SMEs and start- ups on carbon certification and carbon credits monetisation. Our engagement also supports international companies developing projects in Africa and local governments, cities, NGOs and foundations/philanthropies. These include a broad range of low carbon clean tech sectors in Africa, including renewable energies, waste treatment, energy efficiency (in industrial sites and at house- hold levels), and fuel switch. Aera Group acted as technical partner during the first phase of the Alliance.

Perspectives is an independent, highly specialised group of research and consulting firms, which provide the private sector, governments and non- governmental organisations (NGOs) with practical solutions for international climate policy instruments, the international greenhouse gas markets and international climate finance instruments. The company operates offices in Germany and Spain, and consults clients all around the globe in more than 60 countries. The company is internationally recognised for its outstanding contribution to the establishment and advancement of the Clean Develop- ment Mechanism (CDM), including the management and regulatory evolu- tion of Programmes of Activities (PoAs) and Standardised Baselines (SB), successful design of Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) protocols and the design of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMAs). Per- spectives was a technical partner to the first phase of the West African Alli- ance. Throughout the project, Perspectives elaborated key recommenda- tions for preparing the country for active participation in international carbon markets. Our experts interacted closely with the relevant national stakehold- ers on issues they identified as priorities with regard to Article 6 negotiations, CDM transition and MRV capacities.
